On Friday June 7th, I hit the road for Spokane, Washington, and my second ever time tabling at the Lilac City Comic Con! Anyone that’s made the trip knows it’s a LOOOONG drive from the western side of the mountains to basically the border of Idaho. I left the lush green of the rain forest behind, crossed the Cascade range, descended down the rolling hills of Kittitas County, crossed the mighty Columbia at Vantage, and drove straight on through the high plains of Eastern Washington. Crossing several of Washington’s diverse biomes in one day is kind of delightful, and Spokane is a super cool city to visit. With a beautiful downtown split by a river, there are parks and waterfalls galore. The old brick buildings are full of character, and it’s quite a treat for a wetlander like myself to visit a desert city!

First thing’s first, after checking into the hotel, setting up the booth, dinner and dranks at Saranac Commons, we (I had an entourage with me this time) headed to the First Interstate City of the Arts to see THE BOOK OF MORMON. I’d never seen it – it was hilarious.

LILAC CITY COMIC CON DAY 1 –

Day one was great! It wasn’t quite my single best sales day at a con, but it was close. I sold out of Hellbound Slant 6 trade paperbacks! I got to talk with tons of fans, and absolutely loved seeing so many folks interested in my comics!

LILAC CITY COMIC CON DAY 2

It was another good one, and even though out of paperbacks, I sold a couple of Hellbound Slant 6 hardbacks! I sold out of three different prints, and had an all-around blast. Lilac City Comic Con 25 was my best con ever, and I absolutely plan on being back in 2026!

On our way out of town Monday morning, we spent a bit of time exploring Huntington Park, and the waterfalls at the Spokane River.

See you next year, Spokane!
