I’ve got a Hellbound Slant 6 update, a few things from Inktober, two upcoming conventions, and I’m sure a couple other things will pop up, so let’s get started!
I’ll start with Hellbound Slant 6. All digital backer have received their rewards, and all physical books are away at the printers. Link to the campaign – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kenzofkc/hellbound-slant-6-5/posts/3936022
I’m super excited to get these books out to all the backers, especially the hardback omnibus. I didn’t expect it to be as popular as it was. I thought the trade paperback would be far and away the bigger seller between the two. In the end there were 17 hardback omnibus pledges and only 3 pledges for the trade paperback. Wow!
Moving on to cons, I’m attending two upcoming cons in the next month or so. First up is Renton’s King Con – https://www.kingconnw.com/ I have an Artist’s Alley booth at the con this year. I’m looking forward to it! It’s a scaled-back version compared to the first King Con I attended in 2021, which is actually kind of nice. When I went in 2021 the con was at Renton’s fancy Hyatt Regency on the Lake, which likely meant passing higher costs on to vendors and patrons. This year it’s at Renton’s community center, and with its emphasis on family-friendly fare and cosplay, looks like it’ll be a fun show. Stop by and see me if you’re in the area on the 28th and 29th!
On November 11th I’ll be at the GRIT CITY COMIC SHOW https://gritcitycomicshow.com/ at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. The Grit City Comic Show is a classic old-school comic book convention, with the emphasis on comic books and those that make them. Which I love. A lot of cons these days lean into cosplay, comic book movie adaptations, toys, and other jazz, but they all kind of relegate the ONE thing that gave birth to those others as an afterthought. So it’s NICE to see a comic con where COMICS are the primary point of focus. Come see me at the Grit City Comic show in Tacoma on November 11th!
IF YOU have copies of Hellbound Slant 6 coming to you, there is a non-zero chance that I will have them at either of these shows and can deliver them to you there. I’ll make sure to let you know if that is a realistic option as we get closer.
Inktober/Drawtober/whatever you wanna call it… I told Allison I wasn’t going to participate in one of these challenges this year, I simply had too much going on. Finsihing a Hellbound Slant 6 epilog with my buddy David, then geting the books out to the printers, I’m currently a college student, plus doing this Story Xperiential thing, not to mention work, home, and all the rest of the demands on time. Well, whaddaya know, day one I whipped out a quick rendition of Gaiman’s Morpheus. I liked it enough that I thought I’d keep it up. BUT I had to abandon Inktober six days in. Oh well. NOW the Hellbound books are out, I finished the college course and opted not to take another until January, so maybe now I’ll hop back in. Or maybe not. We’ll see. Anyway, here’s the first six days of Inktober below for your enjoyment, and I’ll catch up with you soon!
