What’s new since last post? A lot, really. What is not new is the realization that I am terrible at the upkeep of any sort of blog situation. Perhaps the loss of 3rd party apps on reddit will precipitate an increase in my activity on here. Doubtful, but there is always that small chance.

CRYPTICON 2023
As always, Crypticon was my favorite event of the year! I got an Artist Alley booth this year instead of a vendor booth. From that I learned that I prefer a vendor booth in the big room, so Crypticon 2024’s vendor booth in the main room is already booked. The guest list this year was a bit disappointing compared to last year – I mean, Cassandra Peterson, am I right? How do you top ELVIRA??? (You don’t, and they didn’t) BUT my good friend Sabrina, (who usually shares my booth) took a couple breaks from her bartending gig and stopped by my booth to chat. I hung out with the Grit City Podcast boys after the floor closed on Friday and Saturday night.

The next Con of the year is my second favorite – Washington State Summer Con, for which I was absolutely ecstatic about this year, as the guest list included most of the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender reunited, as well as a ton of actors from Star Trek: The Next Generation. TNG helped shape the way I think and feel about good science fiction and being a good person, and Patrick Stewart always reminded me of my mom’s dad. A:tLA is probably my favorite show of all time. I whipped up some Toph and Azula fan art, and stocked up on a bunch of other merch in preparation for Washington State Summer Con. My application had been marked as “received” back in February, but I’d gotten no other word. Well, a week before the con the vendor list was finalized and I wasn’t on there. It’s been pretty much the biggest bummer of the summer so far. Oh well, there’s always next year, and I’m already registered for both KingCon in Renton in October, and the Grit City Comic Show in November. Maybe less reddit will get me on here more regularly. We’ll see.
